#WarholTogether - Andy Warhol: A Pop Icon and Artwork in His Own Right
For imminent inauguration of the exhibition dedicated to Andy Warhol, GAMeC – Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea promotes #WarholTogether, a call for photographs extended to anyone in possession of original photographic images portraying them with the inventor of Pop Art. The aim is to narrate a different story of an icon and his creation through these images, giving everyone a chance to be part of the process that defines in images Warhol’s work and personality, which turned visual culture and its perception upside down.
Each photograph exists in a delicate limbo of what is tangible and what is impermanent, what is perceived and what is only imagined. Warhol traversed his lifetime sharing and participating in some of the most significant episodes of American and international history and culture. So, who was Andy Warhol? What he did do, and why?
Photographs, made available at zero cost, will be included in the catalogue published by GAMeC Books for the exhibition Andy Warhol. L’Opera Moltiplicata [Andy Warhol. The Multiplied Work]. Curated by Giacinto Di Pietrantonio, the exhibition will run at GAMeC from 19 May to 30 July 2017.
