Gabriele Ghisellini (1956) is a research executive at INAF-Brera Astronomical Observatory. Previously, he taught astronomy at Milan’s Bicocca University and published more than 450 articles in scholarly journals worldwide. He studies radiative processes, active galactic nuclei, and high energy astrophysics.

Life Without Matter

Rebecca Allen (1953) is a digital art pioneer who has been working with it since the early 1970s. She was the founding Chair of the Department of Design and Media Art at U.C.L.A. University in Los Angeles, where she lives, after graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design and MIT Boston. Combining artistic and technological study, she has been interested in the use of computers as an artistic tool to investigate the simulation of human movement and behavior, as well as artificial intelligence algorithms.
