To mark the final days of the exhibition Seasons by Maurizio Cattelan in Bergamo, Fondazione Dalmine and GAMeC are hosting a public talk that will delve into some of the central themes of the show, while also offering a reflection on the role of monuments in contemporary society.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 6:00 PM
FONDAZIONE DALMINE

At the heart of the discussion is the bronze eagle commissioned in 1939 by Dalmine from sculptor Giannino Castiglioni to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Mussolini’s speech in Dalmine. After the war, the sculpture was relocated to the garden of the company’s summer retreat in Castione della Presolana.

The artwork, which inspired Maurizio Cattelan’s sculpture BONES, currently on view at the former Oratory of San Lupo, will be presented to the public during the event.

Speakers:

Manuel Tonolini – Director, Fondazione Dalmine
Silvia Giugno – Heritage Coordinator, Fondazione Dalmine

Lisa Parola – Art historian, author of “Giù i monumenti? Una questione aperta” (Einaudi, 2022)
in conversation with Lorenzo Giusti – Director, GAMeC

Roberta Tenconi – Curator, Pirelli HangarBicocca
