EmpowerED: Decolonial Unlearning Exercises
Workshop led by Marie Moïse
GAMeC

The workshop EmpowerED: Decolonial Unlearning Exercises addresses the issue of systemic discrimination within educational contexts, ranging from the racism embedded in academic curricula to the gender microaggressions that permeate daily interactions.

The activity is led by Marie Moïse, Professor of Intercultural Communication at John Cabot University in Rome. It begins with a glossary that delves into key words and concepts related to hate speech and actions—exploring their components and origins at both individual and collective levels.

From “A” for affirmative actions to “V” for victim blaming (secondary victimization), passing through decolonization, positionality, and privilege, the workshop will analyze essential terms for exploring decolonial pedagogies and providing the fundamental tools needed to combat discrimination. This participatory discussion of the glossary terms will evolve into imagining active practices to counter discrimination, involving participants directly in the learning process.

Participation in the workshop is free
