What is the archive of coloniality, and how does it speak to us today about the present? What responsibility comes with approaching these materials from our specific positions? The workshop led by artist Alessandra Ferrini explores these questions around three key terms: positionality, visuality, and accountability. Through hands-on work with sensitive materials, participants will be introduced to critical and practical approaches for navigating the complexity of this archive. Participants will reflect on how our gaze is built on power relations and will learn the terms, methodologies, and ethical tools necessary to deconstruct and challenge whiteness as a normative system of oppression.

GADDAFI IN ROME: THE EXPANDED SCRIPT
In collaboration with Performatorio
Gaddafi in Rome: the Expanded Script (2018–2021) transforms the news reports generated during the 2009 meeting between Muammar Gaddafi and Silvio Berlusconi into a script that analyzes the memory of this event and its media coverage, highlighting the persisting (neo)colonial relations between Italy and Libya.
Through text, archival imagery, footage, and amateur documentation of the meeting, Alessandra Ferrini’s performance-lecture reflects on how international politics was staged and embodied by two “strongmen” on opposite sides of the Mediterranean border, prompting a reflection on the present-day repercussions of that event.
