The fifth and final cycle of Thinking Like a Mountain – The Orobie Biennial, the GAMeC program involving local communities through the participation of international artists, will open on October 4.
Throughout the day, the Bergamo area will come alive with a widespread program featuring Atelier dell’Errore, Bianca Bondi, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Gaia Fugazza, Agnese Galiotto, Asunción Molinos Gordo, and Pedro Vaz, in collaboration with the communities of Bergamo, Almenno San Bartolomeo, Dalmine, Gerosa (Val Brembilla), and Sottochiesa (Val Taleggio).

GAIA FUGAZZA
Mother of Millions
The project developed by Gaia Fugazza, in collaboration with NAHR – Nature, Art & Habitat Residency during a residency in Val Taleggio, consists of a large-scale sculpture representing a figure inspired by a plant known for sprouting new shoots from its leaves—a feature that deeply fascinated the artist. The work, which aims to establish a close relationship between the plant and human worlds, will be installed in a traditional Val Taleggio barn before being exhibited in the museum spaces.
Saturday, October 4, and Sunday, October 5: open from 10:30 AM to 6 PM

The project, involving the Val Brembilla community, combines alchemical methods and experimentation with materials that foster potential mutations between elements, placing both a macroscopic and microscopic level of interaction between ecosystems under the spotlight.

AGNESE GALIOTTO
La montagna non esiste
Following the presentation of her film Migratori during the third cycle of Thinking Like a Mountain, Agnese Galiotto, in collaboration with the municipality of Almenno San Bartolomeo, will create a fresco on the wall of a house facing the public area in front of the local library and the Villa dell’Amicizia. The work revisits the recurring theme in her practice—the relationship between humans and birds—creating a visual dialogue between flight and Mount Albenza, which rises behind the building.
Until October 31, a series of the artist’s drawings will be on view at the exhibition spaces of Villa dell’Amicizia, along with the short film Migratori.

ABRAHAM CRUZVILLEGAS
An unstable and precarious self-portrait munching some traditional Fritos, sipping a couple of caballitos of Casa Dragones, after a busy journey with some dear friends, listening at the same time to the ‘Clair de lune’, performed by Menahem Pressler, and ‘Folie à Deux’, by Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta
In Dalmine, the Mexican artist Abraham Cruzvillegas will create a site-specific installation in the outdoor areas of the Fondazione Dalmine. Collaborating with local associations, the project will take the form of a participatory experience. The work, made from everyday objects and waste materials sourced locally, will explore—often ironically—the notions of progress linked to the industrial imaginary. On the inauguration day, musician and performer Dudù Kouate will activate the sculpture.

ATELIER DELL’ERRORE
TEN
The anthological exhibition of the collective Atelier dell’Errore will bring together some of the most significant sets from their production since 2015—the year the visual arts workshop dedicated to neuro-divergent children, founded in 2002 by Bergamo-born artist Luca Santiago Mora, became a collective professionally dedicated to art and performance practices.
PEDRO VAZ
Becoming Mountain
An installation by Pedro Vaz, inspired by the mountain landscape of the Alta Via delle Orobie Bergamasche, will be presented. Developed following on-site research, the work reflects the Portuguese artist’s method: a practice based on direct contact with remote places explored through immersive expeditions which fuel his creative process—a fusion of figuration and abstraction.
On the occasion of the 21st Giornata del Contemporaneo, GAMeC will be open to the public free of charge until 10 PM

ASUNCIÓN MOLINOS GORDO
Crops Are Not Orphans
In the Valle della Biodiversità of Astino, in collaboration with the “Lorenzo Rota” Botanical Garden of Bergamo, Spanish artist Asunción Molinos Gordo will lead an artistic-participatory workshop. Drawing on the seed archive preserved by the Botanical Garden, the project will collect and share the stories associated with the seeds, offering a collective reflection on the concept of Seed Kinship—the idea that seeds can generate emotional bonds and nurture a sense of belonging.
