On the occasion of the fourth edition of MADE Film Festival, the short film Forse dovevo rimanere a casa (2026) by artist Lorenzo Silvestri will be presented on Thursday, November 12, at 6:30 PM at Daste in Bergamo.
The screening is part of the collaboration between the Festival—conceived by the Camera di Commercio di Bergamo—and GAMeC within the section GAMeC x MADE IN, dedicated to contemporary research into moving images. Produced by GAMeC, the short film is a new work commissioned by the institution and developed in close dialogue with the festival’s core themes.
Forse dovevo rimanere a casa stems from a reflection on the involuntary workings of memory: a process that generates meaning through unexpected details and associations, far removed from any chronological or linear reconstruction of the past. The narrative unfolds through the random resurfacing of images capable of reactivating sensations and experiences that were not deliberately sought.
The narrative device that opens the film—the everyday act of opening drawers and cupboards, rummaging through domestic spaces in search of something—soon takes on the role of a mental apparatus. This physical search thus transforms into an activation of memory, projecting onto the screen a sequence of objects, gestures, and intimate atmospheres that evoke recognizable, shared experiences in the viewer.
Part of the filming took place at Fondazione Dalmine: engaging with corporate memory and historical archives allowed Silvestri to extend his reflection from a biographical level to a collective one, weaving together the industrial past and the present temporality without turning them into a documentary reconstruction.
The screening will be preceded by a conversation with Lorenzo Silvestri and a presentation of a selection of his earlier “Piccoli Film” (Small Films)—as the artist himself defines them—including Amo Roma, Scappo da Roma (2022) and Youth, Youth, Youth (2024). The dialogue between these works will highlight the defining features of the artist’s poetics, contextualizing Forse dovevo rimanere a casa within his broader inquiry into cinematographic language.
