Behind the apparent immateriality of Artificial Intelligence lies a vast infrastructure of human labor: millions of data workers employed globally in fragmented, precarious, and invisible tasks to train, annotate, and refine algorithms. Rather than eliminating human labor, the rise of AI is redefining its methods, geographies, and protections. During this session, moderated by researcher Philip Di Salvo, sociologist Antonio Casilli will explore the reality and conditions of the hidden workforce powering these new technologies.
